Total Hip Reconstruction following the Segmental Resection of Upper Femur

Abstract
|

|
Total hip reconstruction following segmental resection of giant cell tumor involving left proximal femur, neck and head was successfully performed ii a 32-year-old man.
Acetabulum was reconstructed using metal-backed cup and polyethylen, inner liner without bone cement. Upper femur and head were reconstructed with special segmental femoral prosthesis and ceramic head. This method provides a good means of restoring the integrity of proximal femur and o maintaining the function of the joint.
